Computer Storage Devices

A hardware device, such as a hard disk or floppy disk, used to record and store data.

Here are some examples of storage devices in the computer.

1.)Floppy Disk

They are plastic square disks, usually with a silver or black sliding piece going across the top. These disks come in a variety of colors and they hold about 144 million bytes. (Bytes are characters, symbols and letters).

2.)A DVD – R Disc (Digital Video Recordable)

These discs hold the space of about 4.7 GB and are used to record movies on.

3.)CD + RW Disc (Compact Disc Rewriteable)

This disc looks like a regular CD. The only difference is that you can write on this disc and erase it as many times as you want. It works just like a floppy disk or a zip disk. A CD + RW disc holds about 650 MB.

4.)Flash Drive

This a storage device that comes in many colors and has a stick shape to it. They are very small in size, but they can hold anywhere between 256 MB and 3 GB of material on them.

5.)Removable Hard Drive

This is a disk drive in which a plastic or metal case surrounds the hard drive. It can be inserted and removed just like a floppy disk. It holds about 2 GB of data.

5 examples of output devices

Output Devices

Output devices are things we use to get information OUT of a computer.

Here are some examples of output devices.

1.)Monitor

A monitor is the screen on which words, numbers, and graphics can be seem.  The monitor is the most common output device.

2.)Printer

A printer prints whatever is on the monitor onto paper.  Printers can print words, numbers, or pictures.

3.)Speaker

A speaker gives you sound output from your computer.  Some speakers are built into the computer and some are separate.

4.)Headphones

Headphones give sound output from the computer.  They are similar to speakers, except they are worn on the ears so only one person can hear the output at a time.

5.)Disk Drives

A disk drive is used to record information from the computer onto a floppy disk or CD.

Input Devices

Input devices are things we use to put information INTO a computer.

Here are some examples of input devices.

Note:  An APPLICATION is a type of computer program.
Some applications are word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and games.

1.)  Camera

Most cameras like this are used during live conversations.  The camera transmits a picture from one computer to another, or can be used to record a short.

 2.)  Compact Disc (CD)

CDs store information.  The CD can then be put into another computer, and the information can be opened and added or used on the second computer.
Note:  A CD-R or CD-RW can also be used as an OUTPUT device.

3.)    Keyboard

The keyboard is a way to input letters or numbers into different applications or programs.  A keyboard also has special keys that help operate the computer.

 4.) Mouse

The mouse is used to open and close files, navigate web sites, and click on a lot of commands (to tell the computer what to do) when using different applications.

5.)  Scanner

A scanner is used to copy pictures or other things and save them as files on the computer.

all i wanted, is to be wanted

My expectation to the subject and teacher of "Introduction to Information Technology." First, the subject should be my favorite subject. Second, the subject should be interesting. Third, subject should not be boring. Fourth, the teacher should be approachable. Fifth, the teacher should be master and knowledgeable enough to his/her topic.Lastly, The teacher should have the techniques in catching the attention of his/her students.

My experience in using computer is wonderful because through computer my life as a student is more easier. It also help me to find friends all over the earth. To the field of communication it is really good because you can easily or instantly talk or chat through internet. Finally computer with the help of internet connection is very usable to this generation.
